Central Mason Fire & EMS is an all-hazards fire protection district established under Chapter 52 of the Revised Code of Washington. Situated between the Olympic Mountains and the Puget Sound, Central Mason proudly serves the city of Shelton, and the communities of Allyn, Victor, Mason Lake, Pickering, Harstine Island, Agate, Deer Creek, Lake Limerick, Bayshore, John’s Prairie, and Island Lake.
Legally known as Mason County Fire District #5, the fire district was established in 1953 in the communities of Allyn and Victor. In the years following, Fire District #5 grew through annexation of the unincorporated areas between Allyn and Shelton. In 2008, Mason County Fire District #5 entered into a contract for services with the Shelton Fire Department. Shortly after, Mason County Fire District #5 began doing business as Central Mason Fire & EMS, in order to reflect the diverse and growing communities we serve. In 2018, Central Mason Fire & EMS acquired Mason County Medic One and began delivering paramedic services to nine other Mason County fire districts. In 2023, Mason County Fire District 11 consolidated with Central Mason Fire & EMS through a merger vote by the citizens of Island Lake.
Central Mason Fire & EMS provides a wide range of emergency and non-emergency services. Central Mason operates advanced and basic life support ambulance services.
